10 Things I noticed about Searcy, AR

Its been one week since I've moved from Florida. My week has been simple, not much going on but sleep, eat and just explore the city and its surroundings. Here are 10 things I've discovered here in Searcy, AR.

1. There are two main avenues here. Race Ave and Beebe Capps Express way, yeah...were I live there are many many main rds and I found it odd that I can find most of the things I am looking for between these two avenues. I guess that's one of the perks living in a small town like Searcy.

2. They don't have Mac & Cheese at KFC, however most of the KFC's here are Buffet style, its still weird not having mac & cheese on the menu.

3. Wal-mart is the hang out spot.

4. Most if not all of the stores and businesses close at 9pm or 10pm, you won't find anything open after 10pm besides some of the fast food spots and Wal-mart.

5. I went to the movie theater on Friday, small movie theater, everything including your ticket and concession snacks are purchased at the concession stand, OH and CASH ONLY. LOL you're receipt is your ticket. The actual theater is small with a small screen. It was so old fashion. LOL. but at least they have a movie theater.

6. Everyone is so nice here.

7. Church of Christ capital, home of Harding University

8. Due to the fact that its the capital of the Church of Christ denomination, there is not one liquor store here AND most of the restaurants do not serve alcohol except for some of the bigger restaurants like Chili's; I think you would call this a "Dry County"

9. I live next door to a Funeral Home which my roommate manages and does all. Found out that he does the embalming of the bodies and preps them for viewing. Yeah a little creepy but he's been doing it for almost 23 years or so. Yup!

10. The weather is great right now! When it rains it cools down unlike Florida when it rains it just gets steamy. Here it just cools down and at night it gets in the 70's for now until FALL when the cool weather arrives.

So those are my top 10 things I noticed this past week living in Searcy, AR.

My journey still continues.

Talk to ya soon!
