I Called and He Answered...

Have you ever head of the song “Came to my Rescue” by Hillsong United?…well your local youth group might have played it a couple of times. I personally love this song, If I can put part of my testimony into songs, this would be one of them. There was a time in my life that I have connected with each word and chorus to that song and still do. If you only knew half of what I’ve been through and currently going through, you would agree that this song has helped me get through it all.

The chorus, simply says “I called and you answered, and you came to my rescue and I, I want to be where you are”.

Jonah 2:2-7 says
“He said: "In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. From the depths of the grave I called for help, and you listened to my cry. 3You hurled me into the deep, into the very heart of the seas, and the currents swirled about me; all your waves and breakers swept over me. 4I said, ‘I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’ 5The engulfing waters threatened me, the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head. 6To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you brought my life up from the pit, O LORD my God. 7"When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, LORD, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple.

I’m pretty sure whoever wrote that song must of crossed referenced this scripture. Here is Jonah in the stomach pit of a whale at the bottom of the sea, it’s dark, it’s cold and slimy, it stinks, you’re alone and the only thing you have is your voice. Have you ever been in a dark, cold, lonely place? I have. There’s been times where all I had was my voice, my voice to CALL OUT…

God pays attention, he knows…many times I would wrestle with God, I will cry out and call upon his rescue…and He has…When a father here’s a cry of a child there’s something within that father that can detect if he’s hurting, afraid, so that father responds and rushes to his child…that’s the same with our God, he hears our cries and runs to our rescue, runs to our side to comfort us and to hold us from the hurt, from the pain, to keep us from the loneliness that we sometimes feel, to keep us from harm and danger and to love on us and show us that in Him all things are made new and that in Him there’s peace, joy, comfort and healing.

So, I called and He Answered, He answered to my hurting, he answered to my desire, he answered to my cry…HE ANSWERED…and because He answered, He Rescued me..Rescued me from the pit, Rescued me from the sin, Rescued me from the abuse, Rescued me from the world…He Rescued me…He Rescued me…

“God, In my life, be lifted high, in my love, be lifted high, in my world, be lifted high!”.....
