When the Music Fades and all Is Stripped Away

Last Wednesday in youth group we sang "Heart of Worship" for one of our worship songs. I love that song because it reminds me of going back to the real reason why we worship our God. The song begins with "When the music fades and all is stripped away"...I thought about that for a little bit as I pondered on the after thoughts of just singing it.

What if we never had music with our worship? never had the CD or guitar or worship leader to help us get into his presence. Would we still worship the same way? What if all was stripped away and we had nothing? Would we still go to him with our worship? I've got to admit, I think we all struggle to really get into the presence without the music or the band or even the atmosphere, it's almost like everything needs to be just right before entering in? Does that make sense?

God is wanting for us to get past the music, the instruments and the person. He wants us to just "simply come" and give him something that's worthy. It's easy to get into the presence when you have pre-written verses and a chorus and a band to lead you, but what happens when it stops? do you stop?

Saturday night at Prayer was one of those nights...no music...no band...no verse or chorus, just a praise in my mouth and a song in my heart! I gave him more then a song, more then a clap, I just simply expressed how great and mighty he is and how much I loved Him. With that he overwhelmed me with His presence :) It was an awesome experience and it proved to me that you don't need music or a worship leader to lead you into the presence of God, those things are not required to meet with Him!

So next time your in your room, in your car, at work or wherever try not putting on the worship CD or playing your guitar...but simply go to Him and begin to express the goodness of our majesty, give him what he desires, express YOUR heart of worship! and truly he will still meet with you FACE TO FACE.
